You don’t even need to provide credit card details. The only catch, which they are completely open about, is that users may only have on their list those who sign up through their online forms. The objective of this marketing approach is to build up users’ loyalty and familiarity with Benchmark in the hope that in the future, as your email marketing needs expand, you will be tempted by one of their excellent price plans which will give you the capacity to really grow your business. Benchmark’s strategy demonstrates a real confidence in their product which impressed us from the word go.
Joining is as simple as filling out a short online form. Once the email address has been verified, members have the option to either upgrade or learn the ropes with the Free4Life plan Benchmark Email offers. The back office, or dashboard area of the site, presents simple to follow instructions which guide you from one area into the next at a nice pace. Users will also find plenty of training tools to help get started. You’ll only need to get your credit card out when and if you decide to sign up for a paid plan.
We found Benchmark easy to use, even when it came to the slightly more complex features. When we got stuck, the training and tutorial materials generally resolved whatever issue we had, however this didn’t occur often due to the intuitiveness of the Benchmark platform. In the unlikely case that you do come across difficulties, live support is available via toll-free telephone and live-chat, Monday through Friday, between 9am and 9pm EST and on Saturday from 10am through 3pm EST. Email support is also available for those who prefer to get their help in writing. We found the support that we received to be polite and informative and were especially impressed by the hours of availability; especially important in a market which is not based on the 9 – 5 office hours of traditional business practice.
Benchmark Email also demonstrate an expertise in the world of internet and ecommerce which gives you, as a user, a high degree of confidence in their service. For one, they take anti spam codes of practice very seriously. This translates into better service for you because it is less likely your mail will be highlighted as spam. This is especially important for high volume users who will even enjoy the luxury of a dedicated server for their mailouts.
Perhaps the best sign for this company and its future is the "Feature Wish List Forum," where members are able to let Benchmark know what they'd like to see added to the already feature-rich packages on offer. We believe it's always a good sign when a company shows a willingness to listen to what their customers have to say. In this way, we expect Benchmark to maintain its prominence in the email marketing sector whilst growing in an organic way, continually being shaped and developed according to its customers’ needs. Hence, it is not surprising that Benchmark have rapidly established themselves as market leaders in this category and, in all likelihood, will continue to be so for some time.
The only downside we came across was that Benchmark, unlike many of its competitors, doesn’t offer conversion tracking as a way of monitoring your campaign’s impact. However, it must be noted that with full Google Analytics integration, even advanced users will not really miss this feature.
Overall, we were extremely impressed with Benchmark: Their Free4Life program is almost too good to be true and certainly unmatched in this category; their price plan is, although not market beating, certainly flexible and competitive; their features are advanced yet easy to use; and you are assured excellent support throughout your email marketing experience.
